Estero Proton Cancer Center Treats 100th Patient
Southwest Florida Proton, the $80 million cutting-edge cancer treatment facility in Estero, has reached a milestone of 100 patients treated since opening late last year. The center, the only proton therapy facility on Florida's entire west coast, has expanded treatment hours to 14 hours per day to meet demand and may push to 16 hours daily as early as this summer. Naples Pier Rebuild Update
Construction on the new Naples Pier is well underway, with the old pier demolition completed April 13 and 59 concrete pilings deployed at Wasmer Reef in late April to expand an existing artificial reef. The $23.5 million project, which broke ground January 6, will rebuild the iconic 1888 landmark with modern resilience standards including pilings raised at least three feet higher, with an estimated 18-month construction timeline. During construction, pier access remains fully closed, but pedestrian beach bypasses with restrooms are available at Broad Avenue South and 13th Avenue South beach ends. (City of Naples)
