Hi Friend!

Fall is in full-swing and the weekends are packed! From markets to live music and family outings, here’s your weekly guide to what’s happening locally.

Farmers Market Season is Here

I rounded up this season’s farmers markets from Fort Myers to North Naples, and there are plenty of great ones to choose from. Personally, I think the Lakes Park Farmers Market is hard to beat. It has the most vendors, the widest variety and you can’t match the lakeside setting. When you’re done shopping, you can take the kids to the playground or hop on the train ride, which makes it a perfect morning outing!
Check out the list here.

Do you want to see all the Halloween and fall events at a glance? Here’s the complete roundup to reference. Some of these events will be included in the weekly newsletter, but not all of them!

Lee County Expands Conservation Lands
The Lee County Board of Commissioners approved the purchase of nearly 20 acres in the Corkscrew Regional Ecosystem Watershed (CREW) as part of the Conservation 20/20 program. Ranked a Tier 1 acquisition, the parcels were chosen for their proximity to existing preserves, helping protect habitat connectivity and water quality. With this addition, efforts that began in 1989 now safeguard more than 60,000 acres across Lee and Collier counties, preserving wetlands, wildlife corridors, and vital water recharge areas for future generations.(leegov.org)

Canal Clearing to Help Prevent Flooding in South Fort Myers
Lee County has approved nearly $300,000 to remove vegetation and debris from the Ten Mile Canal, a project aimed at reducing flooding risks for nearby neighborhoods, including the Fort Myers RV Resort Park. Residents, who saw devastating damage from Hurricane Ian and other recent storms, hope the cleanup—set to begin this month and wrap up in about two weeks—will help protect their community from future flooding.(Wink News)

Boost for Career Education in Lee County Schools
Thanks to a new $1.69M grant, the School District of Lee County is expanding its workforce programs—adding new academies in aviation, cybersecurity, and modeling & simulation, and growing existing programs like welding, nursing, HVAC, and more. This initiative aims to better connect students with high-demand careers through real-world skills and certifications.(WGCU)
