Fort Myers Awarded Grant to Improve Pedestrian & Cyclist Safety
The Fort Myers Police Department has received a $27,374.99 state grant to strengthen safety for walkers and cyclists. Enforcement and education efforts will focus on two high-traffic corridors: Palm Beach Boulevard (from Veronica Shoemaker Blvd. to Pine St.) and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard (from Palm Ave. to Veronica Shoemaker Blvd.).(Wink News)
Exciting Upgrade at Wonder Gardens
Our local gem in Bonita Springs has secured $1.3 million to build a new event center that’ll house educational programs, weddings, field trips and more—all year-round. From an aviary deck overlooking the river to a full kitchen and extra restrooms, this upgrade is designed to keep the Old Florida charm alive while making Wonder Gardens even more family-friendly.(WGCU)
Christmas Boat Parade Returns – Saturday, December 6, 6:00 PM
Set sail for holiday magic on the water! The 37th Annual Fort Myers Beach Christmas Boat Parade departs from Salty Sam’s Marina, cruising through Estero Bay under the Matanzas Pass Bridge and along the back bay (with a second loop this year!). Sanibel Boat Ramp Partially Reopens
Great news for island boaters: the Sanibel boat ramp is back in action at least half of it is open now while the final phase of construction wraps up. (GulfCoastNews)
Resurgence Brewing Location Set to Open In Early 2026
Buffalo-based Resurgence Brewing Company is bringing its craft-beer spirit down to Southwest Florida. The new 25,000-square-foot taproom and restaurant is set to open in Fort Myers at the corner of Six Mile Cypress Parkway and Metro Parkway. This marks the brewery’s second location, following its flagship in Buffalo.
Founder and owner Jeff Ware started Resurgence after years of home-brewing and a move from NYC to Buffalo, where he and his wife Erin launched the original site in 2014. He says bringing a “piece of Buffalo” to SWFL means combining great beer, a welcoming atmosphere and a fun local twist on the experience.
The Fort Myers spot promises more than beer, it will feature a full kitchen, a covered outdoor beer garden, and even an indoor climbing gym in partnership with Central Rock Gym, making it a destination for food, drink and fun under one roof.
Cape Coral Fire Department Hosting Citywide Open House This Saturday
If you’re looking for a fun, free, and genuinely educational outing for the kids this weekend, the Cape Coral Fire Department is opening all 13 of its stations for a special community open house on Saturday, November 15, from 9 AM to noon. Families can stop by any station and explore at their own pace — no registration needed.
Each location will offer hands-on activities and behind-the-scenes looks at what firefighters do every day. Kids can check out fire trucks and ambulances up close, try on gear, and meet the firefighters who keep our communities safe. Many stations will also have special demos, including CPR practice, water-rescue equipment, vehicle extrication tools, and K-9 units. Expect family-friendly touches too, like obstacle courses, face painting, and plenty of photo ops.
It’s a great way to spark curiosity, learn about emergency preparedness, and help kids feel more comfortable around first responders. And with every station participating, you’re sure to find one close to home. More Information Here
