Coconut Point Proposes 365-Unit Apartment Redevelopment at Muvico Theater Site
Coconut Point Mall is scheduled to go before the Village of Estero’s Planning, Zoning & Design Board on January 13, 2026, with a proposal to redevelop the Muvico Theater site into a 365-unit apartment community with a parking garage. Under the plan, the existing movie theater would be replaced with a surface parking lot, while the current parking area behind the theater would become the apartment buildings and garage. Fort Myers Beach Pier Rebuild Targets 2027 Completion
Fort Myers Beach’s iconic pier that was destroyed by Hurricane Ian, is officially moving forward with plans for reconstruction, with construction expected to begin in late 2026 and completion targeted for 2027. The new pier will be longer and wider than the original and part of broader recovery efforts, bringing back a beloved community landmark and boosting tourism once finished.
Lee County launches map to monitor nuisance properties
Lee County has launched an interactive online map that lets residents track nuisance properties and view active code enforcement actions across the community. The tool aims to increase transparency and neighborhood involvement by showing where issues like trash, debris and other violations have been reported and what steps the county is taking to address them. Residents can use the map to stay informed about problem properties and better understand the code enforcement process.(GulfCoastNews)
Estero Welcomes Toasted Yolk Café
A new location of The Toasted Yolk Café opened in Estero, bringing the popular breakfast-and-brunch concept to south Lee County. The Houston-based restaurant chain will take over the former Zoës Kitchen space, just off U.S. 41 across from Coconut Point and next to Chipotle. The Estero spot will serve the brand’s signature breakfast and lunch menu, offering another flavorful option in the area’s growing dining scene. (GulfShoreBusiness)

Ceramics (Ages 18+)

Explore hand-built ceramics in this relaxed, volunteer-run open studio for adults. Participants can focus on clay building or glazing, with knowledgeable volunteers available on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings to offer guidance. Fridays are independent studio time and best for those with basic ceramics experience. Glazes and kiln use are included; participants provide their own clay or pieces.
Bonita-Estero Woodcarvers (Ages 18+)
Wednesdays | Noon–3:00 p.m.
Learn the art of wood carving in this welcoming, adult-only club offering free instruction for beginners and experienced carvers alike. Participants use hand tools to transform wood into figures and sculptures while learning technique, safety, and design at their own pace. A woodcarving starter kit is available for purchase.
Online Beginner Chinese offered by the Lee County Library

Lee County Animal Services
Walking and socializing dogs, enriching and caring for cats, assisting clinic staff, welcoming and guiding shelter visitors, photographing pets for adoption, and representing the shelter at community events to help animals find their forever homes.
Train Museum at Lakes Park
Volunteers support the museum, railroad, and miniature villages by maintaining train routes and exhibits, decorating for seasonal events, building and painting displays and scale houses, organizing collections, serving as docents, and helping educate the public through hands-on exhibits and classroom opportunities.
Koreshan State Park
Assist with ranger station support, tours and historical outreach, special events, gardening and park maintenance, carpentry and repairs, and contribute special skills like photography, sewing, acting, technology, and social media to support park operations and programs.
